The Supreme Court has set the 2024 Shari’ah Bar exams in February.

In a Bar bulletin, the Office of the 2024 Shari-ah Bar Chairperson said the examinations will be conducted in a digitalized and regionalized format on February 25, Sunday, and February 28, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh will serve as Bar chairperson.

The SC said the exams will cover Jurisprudence (Figh) and Customary Laws (Adat); Persons, Family Relations, and Property; Succession, Wills/Adjudication, and Settlement of Estates; and Procedure in the Shari’ah Courts.

Two subjects will be tackled per examination day. They will be distributed in the morning period from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and the afternoon period from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Announcements regarding the 2024 SBE procedure, i.e., application requirements, software technical specifications, health protocols, local testing center, and venue selection, will be issued in subsequent Bar Bulletins,” the SC said.

The Shari’ah Bar Examinations are administered to allow Muslim professionals to qualify and practice before the Shari’ah Courts in the Philippines constituted under Presidential Decree (PD) 1083, or the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines.

The Shari’ah courts have jurisdiction over cases involving violations of PD 1083. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
