Weather bureau PAGASA on Monday said the colder temperatures being experienced over the country may persist until next month due to the effect of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan).
“Ilang araw na rin tayong nakakaranas ng malamig na temperatura….Posible pa rin tayong makaranas nang ganitong temperatura hangga’t umiiral ang kasalukuyang Amihan na posibleng umabot sa kalagitnaan ng Pebrero,” said PAGASA Assistant Weather Services Chief Chris Perez in a forecast.
(We have been experiencing colder temperatures the past few days. This may continue until the middle of February due to Amihan.)
As of 8 a.m., data from PAGASA showed Baguio City recorded 13.2°C. Low temperature was also monitored in areas in Luzon such as Basco, Batanes (17.0°C), Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (18.4°C), and Tanay, Rizal (18.8°C).
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Amihan may bring cloudy skies with light rains to the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region as well as partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of Visayas.
The shear line affecting the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao may cast cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Southern Leyte, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.
The rest of Mindanao may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Forecast winds, coastal conditions
Strong winds and rough waters may be experienced over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the rest of the country.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions may prevail over the rest of the country.
