Typhoon Nanmadol entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was given the domestic name “Josie,” PAGASA said Friday.
The state weather bureau said Josie entered PAR at 5:40 p.m. It is moving northwest at 10 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h.
Josie may only stay briefly inside PAR and exit the country within the day. It is also seen not to have a direct effect on the country, PAGASA said.
The prevailing Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, meanwhile, may be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
No other low-pressure area (LPA) is currently being monitored by PAGASA as of the moment. —LDF, GMA News
