Serbian team Ub Huishan NE on Sunday took home the top prize in the Manila leg of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour held over the weekend at Glorietta Activity Center in Makati.
The Serbians held off China’s Futian, 21-17, in the finals to take home the $40,000 prize.
Futian trailed, 18-17, with 2:25 left before a two-point shot by Marko Brankovic gave the Serbs a three-point lead. Dejan Majstorovic sealed the deal for Ub with 1:51 left in the game.
Prior to the finals, Ub defeated Beijing, 21-16, in the semifinals, and Amsterdam HiPro, 21-20, in the quarters.
Aside from Brankovic and Majstorovic, Yuxuan Liu, and world no. 1 3×3 player Strahinja Stojacic are also part of the team.
Meanwhile, Manila Chooks! on Saturday bowed out of the competition after falling to Japan’s Utsunomiya BREX EXE, 22-18, and Ub, 21-9, to finish third in Pool A of the tournament. Only the top two teams of the four groups of three will advance to the quarterfinals.
The Manila team is composed of Mac Tallo, Dennis Santos, Tosh Sesay, and Paul Desiderio.
