The Office of the Vice President’s tele-consultation program receives an average of 400 calls daily as COVID-19 cases in the country continue to soar, Undersecretary Philip Dy, OVP chief-of-staff, said Sunday.
As of Saturday, the country’s COVID-19 tally rose to 1,824,051. This includes 123,935 active cases; 31,596 fatalities; and 1,668,520 recoveries.
“Noong June at July, bumaba ang cases. In a day, nakaka-less than 100 ‘yung cases sa Bayanihan E-Konsulta pero ito noong nakaraang linggo, on average, nakaka-more than 400 cases kami na nakakapasok,” he said during the OVP’s weekly radio program.
(Last June and July, cases decreased. In a day, we were reporting less than 100 cases, but in the past week we recorded an average of 400 cases.)
As the teleconsult program gets overwhelmed, Dy also noted that Vice President Leni Robredo had to undergo a graveyard shift to help her staff in running the consultation program.
The program was launched in April to help patients with COVID-19 and other diseases get medical attention through tele-consultation.
