A low pressure area (LPA) that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility is expected to affect weather conditions in the Mindanao region,  state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.

Based on its 24-hour public forecast, the agency said the LPA was last seen 925 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao as of 3 p.m.

The trough of the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (Amihan) may trigger cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, and partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA warned the public against possible flash floods and landslides in the affected areas due to the rainfall.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough waters will prevail over Northern Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Light to moderate winds, meanwhile, will blow over Mindanao, which will be accompanied by slight to moderate coastal waters.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila on Thursday at 6:20 a.m.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
