iNFOCUS: The University of the Philippines Los Baños conducted a PROJECT BIOMES (BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENTS AND MONITORING OF Mangrove ECOSYSTEMS) in Del Carmen, Siargao.

This project was under the Policy Research Program called (SAKALAM Del Carmen) Suverys, Assessments and Environmental Monitoring of Key Economic Activities and Livelihood Associated in the Mangroves of Del Carmen Siargao Island.

Through this, unique species from Del Carmen was discovered and published in journals online.

The said research project was funded by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).
