1: Check if the corrupted USB drive has a correct drive letter, if not, assign one to it.

  1. Right-click the Start icon.
  2. Select Disk Management and click on it.
  3. Right-click the corrupted USB drive and choose “Change Drive Letter and Paths…”
  4. Click on the drive letter and click the Change button.
  5. Choose a different letter from the drop-down list and click OK.
  6. Done

2: Update device drivers

It’s possible that the driver of the USB drive is out of date or corrupted itself. So updating the driver may solve this problem.

  1. Right-click the Start icon and choose Device Manager.
  2. Click Disk drives and find the driver name of the corrupted USB.
  3. Right-click on the name and choose Uninstall device.

You will need the following:

  1. Corrupted USB drive.
  2. Computer running Windows 7-10.
  3. A data recovery program that is compatible with your computer.
