Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena is grateful for his new achievement in the Paris Diamond League.
On his Instagram account, Monday, the Olympian shared a snippet of his record-breaking jump at the 5.91 meter-mark.
He also posted a photo of his triumphant reaction after clearing the bar.
“Merci Paris!” Obiena wrote in the caption.
The jump is also his personal best in outdoor pole vault.
Obiena finished second in the Paris tournament behind Olympic gold medalist Armand Duplantis, who cleared 6.01 meters.
The Paris Diamond League was Obiena’s second tournament after competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He finished fifth at the Athletissima in Lausanne, Switzerland.
